"Alright, where is he?" Shrall demanded, looking around the room. "You better have a good explanation for making us come here instead, Sheera." Demar growled, looking around the house. "Oh, don't get your hood in a knot." Sheera snapped her fingers, and in an instant Norman appeared, fainted. "There you are, boys." Sheera smirked, gesturing to Norman. "Free for corruption. Seems as though we won't need Courtney after all " she shrugged. "Yes, it seems so " Shrall nodded, then turned to Demar. "Bring her back." He ordered. "How about you bring Ombre too? I'd just love to see how he reacts when he sees that the twerp lost." Sheera smirked evilly, hoping they'd buy it. "You can't tell me what to-" "Demar!" Shrall interrupted him sharply. "Just do as she says, it won't kill you." He growled. Demar murmured something under his breath as he started up his spell.
Sheera tried her best to avoid glancing at the door that lead to the basement. She was hoping that if Norman - the REAL Norman, not the fake one she had conjured up to trick Shrall and Demar was smart, then he wouldn't make a sound. She had already warned him about Shrall's tempting ways, and she prayed that he had taken the hint. After a moment, Courtney and Ombre appeared in a puff of smoke, both of them tied up. Ombre's glare immediately went to Demar. "UNTIE US YOU COWARD!" he yelled in anger. "Not on your life!" Demar sneered in response. "Norman!" Courtney gasped as she saw the fake Norman, not knowing that it was just a puppet. Ombre looked over and gasped too, but then looked a bit closer. "Wait a second
" he murmured, thinking. Sheera had played a trick on him before with her puppet spell, and he had learned from that that the puppet was never exactly like the real person. There was always some kind of indication
Sheera saw him examining it and panicked slightly, though she tried not to show it. Sheera cleared her throat a little, getting his attention. 'Not a word.' she mouthed to him, and in an instant he understood what was going on. "Shall we begin?" Shrall smiled evilly. "The sooner, the better." Demar answered. "Yeah. Right. Look, you boys do that, I have some business to take care of with these two." Sheera pointed at Ombre and Courtney, improvising slightly. "Fine. You may take Ombre, but the girl stays here." Demar told her, pushing Ombre over to her. "She'll get to watch as her brother turns against her
" he finished, turning his attention back to Courtney. Sheera bit her lip slightly, then nodded and took Ombre down to the basement, where Norman was hiding. She closed the door behind her, then headed down the stairs, untying Ombre once they were at the bottom. Norman ran over to them, slowing down when he realized they were missing someone. "Where's Courtney?" he asked, worried. "Still upstairs. They're getting ready to possess the puppet, so we better hurry before they realize that it's not really you." Sheera answered. Ombre looked over at her, smirking. "Look who's helping now!" he remarked. "Alright, so I have a soft spot too!" Sheera exclaimed, crossing her arms. "But it means NOTHING." She clarified. "Sure." He rolled his eyes, still smiling. "Anyhow, what's our plan?" he asked. "First off we have to get Courtney, but I'm not sure how we can-" she stopped in mid-sentence as the door burst open, sending light into the room. Ombre and Sheera immediately went in front of Norman to hide him, looking up the stairs to see none other then Demar. "Where is he
" he growled through clenched teeth. He looked over at Ombre, then back at Sheera. "How did I know you'd side with him." He narrowed his eyes at her angrily. Sheera gulped nervously. The plan had hardly even started and it had already failed. Perfect.
Demar narrowed his eyes at them as his hand started to glow, making them panic slightly. Ombre glanced back at Norman, then quickly teleported him away before Demar's magic hit him and Sheera, knocking them back. Sheera looked around in confusion, then looked over at Ombre and raised an eyebrow. Demar screamed in anger and bolted down, lifting Ombre up with his magic. "WHERE IS HE?" he demanded again. "Like I'd tell you." Ombre growled at him before being thrown down to the floor. Demar got ready to attack him, but was suddenly launched backwards as a shot of magic hit him instead. He hit the wall hard, landing on the floor with a thud. Ombre looked over at Sheera in slight shock as the red glow faded off her hand. "We have to stop him now." She told him, helping him up. After a moment of hesitation Ombre nodded, both of their hands starting to glow. "So it's a fight you want, huh?" Demar laughed as he got up. His hands started to glow as well as he got ready to attack. "Bring it."
Norman sat up, looking around. Ombre had teleported him to his room, where he thought he at least had a chance of being safe. Granted, he hadn't expected Norman to want to save Courtney on his own. Which was exactly what Norman was planning to do. Norman took a deep breath, thinking. "Alright, I'm gonna do this." He took another deep breath, going over to the door. "I'll have to be quick
" he opened the door silently and went downstairs, constantly looking around to make sure Shrall wasn't around. "He's probably looking for me
" Norman decided as he peeked into the living room. Courtney was still tied up, and Shrall was indeed out looking for him. Norman sighed in relief and rushed over to her, making her gasp silently. "There you are!" she smiled. "I'm gonna get you out, alright?" he told her as he started to untie the ropes. "I was hoping you'd say that." She responded. After a moment the ropes fell to the ground and she brushed herself off. "Now what?" she asked, glancing over at Norman. He was about to answer, but instead screamed in pain as he was knocked down by a magic blast. He started to get up, then yelped in shock when he found himself being lifted up by someone. And it wasn't Courtney. "Gotcha!" Shrall sneered. Courtney reacted quickly, kicking Shrall hard enough that he let go of Norman. Shrall turned to her, ready to attack. Norman bit his lip, focusing hard. In an instant, right before Shrall hit her, Norman teleported Courtney to her room.
Shrall growled in anger, then whipped around to face Norman. "You think you can save your family? You think you're actually a hero?" he snapped, making Norman back up in fear. "Well, 'hero'
I think it's about time you saw what's happening to them as we speak." Shrall smiled evilly, laughing. Norman stared at him in confusion and worry. "
'Them'?" he squeaked. Shrall didn't answer at all. He just waved his hand, causing what looked like a portal to appear. Norman raised an eyebrow, then looked at it and gasped. His parents
they were trapped somewhere. They were in danger. They were about to be killed. "NO!" Norman shouted, running towards the portal. It disappeared once he got to it, not allowing him to go through. He whipped around to face Shrall, tears streaming down his cheeks as he narrowed his eyes in fury. "You monster
" he growled. "They're done for, Norman!" Shrall smirked evilly. "SHUT UP!" Norman covered his ears, trying not to listen. He couldn't take it much longer. He felt as if he were about to explode. "And there's nothing you can do to save them." Shrall finished. Norman's eyes snapped open as they turned completely green. Shrall had officially gone too far. And he was about to pay for it.
Ombre ducked down to avoid getting hit, then quickly dived out of the way as another blast of magic came towards him, shooting one at Demar at the same time. Sheera jumped over to Demar and punched his jaw, then kicked him against the wall once more. She yelped as he shot her back with his magic, though she was relieved when Ombre caught her. They both looked over at Demar, who didn't seem to want to get up. "Did we win?" Ombre asked, unsure of whether or not this was a trick. They both jumped back as the house suddenly trembled, then looked back at Demar as he started laughing. "You'll never win! NEVER!" He kept laughing like a maniac as he repeated the word. "We have to get him out of here. He's nuts." Sheera said flatly. "We can't leave Norman." Ombre answered. The house trembled again, though this time it was harder for them to keep balance. "Ok, now we definitely can't leave Norman." He corrected. "Well, we can't leave mister psycho here either!" Sheera gestured to Demar as she protested. Ombre groaned, then teleported Demar away. "There. Done. Now can we deal with the bigger problem?" Ombre exclaimed. Suddenly they heard thunder roaring above them, making them both jump back in shock. Sheera turned to look at him, her eyes wide. "Good plan. I like that plan."
Norman didn't even notice the fact that he was going out of control. He only had one thing on his mind, and it was to get rid of Shrall for good. Norman was actually floating now, a green aura surrounding him as he glared down at Shrall. There was a powerful wind that was causing everything to fly all over the place as green bolts of thunder roared on in the background. "YES!" Shrall laughed in success. He felt himself being pushed back by the wind, but he didn't care. His plan had worked after all. Or at least he thought it had. Norman's glowing eyes narrowed even more as the wind grew even harsher, blowing Shrall back a little more. Ombre and Sheera rushed in, not expecting Norman to be so far into it yet. They gasped, looking at each other in panic. "We're too late!" Ombre exclaimed as they turned their attention back to what was going on, trying their best not to let the wind blow them back. "How do we stop him?" Sheera asked. "I
I don't know!" Ombre answered. Norman tensed up slightly when he heard them, thinking it was one of Shrall's tricks. He growled and sent on of the thunderbolts straight for them, making them both jump back in shock. The wind grew harsher and blew them back into the wall, hard and fast. "Something tells me he's not happy." Sheera groaned with slight sarcasm.
Shrall's laughter started to die down as he started to step towards Norman. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" Norman shouted at him in fury. His voice sounded different. It sounded as if it was doubled, and the kind tone in his voice was completely gone, replaced by pure rage. Shrall smirked as he took a few steps closer, ignoring him. "GET AWAY!" Norman shrieked even louder, curling up into a ball as he floated higher. Shrall was about to step forward once more, then stopped and looked down, raising an eyebrow. There was a green fire surrounding his feet as they started to turn grey. The grey coloring continued up his body, and once he was completely grey he realized what was going on. He looked up in panic just as a powerful wave suddenly burst from around Norman. Ombre and Sheera covered their faces and looked away quickly. Shrall screeched just as his body completely froze. Another wave was imitated, and the second it hit Shrall he exploded into dust, which disappeared out the window. Ombre and Sheera put their hands down and looked over at where Shrall was, then smiled at each other. The cheer disappeared when another wave came and they yelped in shock covering their faces again.
The house started to creak as it trembled yet again, making them both worry even more. "He's gonna tear this place apart if we don't calm him down soon!" Ombre shouted over the wind. "How in heck's name are we supposed to-" "Norman!" Sheera stopped in confusion as her and Ombre both looked over to see Courtney. "What are you DOING?!" Sheera shouted at her. Courtney didn't answer. Instead she walked a little closer to Norman, covering her face with her arm. "NORMAN!" she shouted again, trying to get his attention. The thunder got even louder as the wind started to blow her back, but she stood her ground. "I think he heard you!" Ombre told her. Courtney bit her lip and started side-stepping around so she could be face-to-face with her brother. "You have to calm down!" she shouted at him, hoping that she could actually get through to him. "N-NO! I WON'T
I WON'T LET YOU TRICK ME!" He responded stubbornly. Courtney cautiously tried to take a step closer. "I'm not trying to trick you, Norman. I'm trying to make you understand that you're letting your anger get the best of you!" she exclaimed, taking another small step. Norman just screamed in anger as he started to aim the thunder at her. She jumped back quickly, trying to think of another way to get him to listen. She wasn't entirely sure how he had stopped the Witch, but she had a feeling that whatever he did then would work now.
Courtney looked up at him, gasping when she noticed something. He was shaking violently, and it looked like he was crying too. It reminded her of when he was younger and he had nightmares
As she thought back to it she got an idea, but it was risky. She bit her lip and started to go closer, shushing him softly. "It's ok
" she cooed. "ARE YOU CRAZY?!" Sheera yelled at her in confusion. Ombre on the other hand just watched curiously, trying to find out what she was doing. Courtney grunted slightly as Norman tried to blow her away again, but after a moment she continued to take baby steps towards him. "GET
" he warned. "No." Courtney answered. "Yell at me all you want, but I won't abandon you." "LEAVE ME ALONE!" he screeched at her as loud as he could, and at the moment it sounded ear piercing, but she stood her ground. "Listen to me, Norman. This isn't you. You have to stop." She explained. She was practically right under him now. She looked around, trying to find a way that she could actually reach him. Ombre realized what she was doing and quickly used his magic to drag the table over to her so she could stand on it. She smiled at him, then climbed onto it. "I WON'T-" Norman completely froze when he felt something touch his hand. He looked down at Courtney, who squeezed his hand a little tighter. "You have to stop." She repeated. "I
" Norman's eyes slowly started to fade back to normal, as did his voice. He closed his eyes and looked down as he let out a shaky sigh. "I
" he started to float back down to the ground as Courtney got off the table, still holding his hand just incase. Sheera and Ombre sighed in relief as the wind slowed to a stop and the thunder faded away.
Courtney looked over at them and smiled, then jumped in shock when she felt Norman wrap his arms around her. "I'm sorry
I'm so sorry
" he cried, hugging her tightly. "Woah, calm down
" Courtney exclaimed. "It's over now." "
I-I couldn't stop
" Norman looked up at his sister with tear-filled, apologetic eyes. Courtney hugged him back as Sheera and Ombre came over. "You actually did it!" Sheera exclaimed in shock. "Guess you just needed a reminder, huh Norman?" Courtney smiled at him. Norman pulled away and nodded, trying to smile as he wiped away some tears with his sleeve. "We're still stuck here though
" he said as he looked up at them all. Ombre looked him up and down, thinking. Now that he was actually himself again, Norman looked exhausted. "Don't worry about that. We'll deal with it." Ombre assured. "After we clean this place up." Sheera added. "Right." Ombre nodded as they started to put everything back where it was with their magic. "But I thought
" Norman trailed off as he let out a yawn. "Alright, I think it's off to bed with you." Courtney decided. He yawned again before he could protest, his eyes starting to close. She smiled as she lead him off to his room, mouthing 'Thank you' to Ombre and Sheera as they went. "Night, kid!" Ombre called after them. Courtney tucked Norman into bed gently, though he didn't want to go to sleep just yet. "Sorry I caused all of this
" he apologized as Courtney left. "It's no biggy." She replied before closing the door. "I wish I could fix it
" she heard him murmur before he drifted off to sleep. "Goodnight." She whispered as she flicked the light off and closed the door silently, heading off to her room so she could get some rest as well. At around the same time, Norman began to faintly glow green
"Courtney! Norman! We're home!"
Courtney slowly opened her eyes as she groaned in confusion. "Wha
?" she looked over at the window, expecting to see the black substance. Instead, there was sunlight leaking into her room. She got up out of bed, confused. "Am I dreaming?" she wondered, rubbing her eyes. She went out of her room and headed for the front door to see her parents, then she smiled. "You're home!" she hugged them immediately, ecstatic. "I missed you so much
" "We were only gone for a few days, sweetie!" Sandra exclaimed. Courtney pulled away and shrugged. "I know, but still." She replied. After a moment she gasped, thinking. She rushed off to Norman's room, accidentally waking him up when she lifted him up, squeezing him tightly. He yelped in shock, not completely sure what was going on. "Norman, you did it! We're home!" Courtney exclaimed. "Courtney
" Norman squeaked, trying to squirm free. "Oops!" she let go quickly, laughing slightly. "
You did it!" she repeated. "I did?" he raised an eyebrow, looking over at the window. He smiled, turning back to face her. "I DID!" he exclaimed, hugging her. He looked over at the door as Sandra and Perry peeked in. "Mom! Dad!" he ran over a gave them both a hug too. "Did something happen while we were gone?" Perry asked as his son pulled away. Norman was about to tell them everything, then hesitated. He stayed quiet for a minute, then looked up at them again. "Nah. We just hung out here, really." He answered. It wasn't a complete lie
They had stayed in the house from the most part after all. Courtney raised an eyebrow then smiled. "Yeah. We even had some brother-sister time together." She agreed. "Oh, how sweet." Sandra cooed. "Well, we're going to go unpack our things." She told them as both her and Perry headed off to their room, closing the door behind them. "Not gonna tell them?" Courtney asked once they were gone. Norman turned to face her, rubbing his arm. "I don't really feel safe telling anyone yet
" he admitted. "Whatever you say." Courtney shrugged, heading out. "Oh, and don't worry. I won't tell anyone." She told him before leaving. "Promise?" he asked sternly. "Promise." She answered, then closed the door. Norman sighed, thinking. He had a feeling that keeping his powers secret would be easier said then done. After a second he saw something out of the corner of his eye. Something that hadn't been there before. He turned around, seeing the note on his bed just as the indigo glow around it vanished. He went over and picked it up, reading it aloud. "Dear Norman and Courtney
I'm glad you got home safely. We both are. We hope that you can get a hang of your powers soon. If you ever need help, just seek us out. It shouldn't be hard to find us, seeing as we are making are new home here in Blithe Hollow. Best of luck to the both of you
Ombre and Sheera
" he smiled, putting the note next to his amp for safekeeping as he sat down on his bed. He looked over at the window and smiled, taking a deep breath of fresh air.
"See you soon, guys
